Charities to support this Winter

Looking for a charity to support this month and to help others remain cosy and comfortable?

1 kennel at a time is trying to get as many kennels as they can to the poor before the real cold begins! Currently working in Ocean View, but going to start assisting the animals in Redhill too! Any kennel, regardless of age or condition, can be donated and they will fix it up and distribute it. (Just a note on blankets. We have found that thick cardboard in kennels is a better option as blankets tend to get dragged out in the mud and become filthy, wet and shredded quickly). Please message them via 1 kennel at a time's FB page. Cell contact number is 0844888335.

Street Sleeper is a Cape Town based initiative that uses innovation to tackle the social and environmental challenges facing the homeless community. They upcycle advertising billboards destined for landfill into survival sleeping bags, transforming the negative impact of waste into immediate relief for those living on the street while promoting social upliftment through dialogue and storytelling. Visit them at http://www.streetsleeper.org/ for more information!

TEARS Animal Rescue (The Emma Animal Rescue Society) is one of the country’s leading organisations in the areas of animal rescue, veterinary services, and the rehabilitation and rehoming of rescued domestic animals. As a pro-life, registered non-profit organisation, they rely on the support of caring individuals and corporates to assist them in fulfilling their mission to bring relief to animals in distress, whether through intervention, education, medical assistance or rehoming. Located in the False Bay area of the southern Cape Peninsula, they typically serve the communities of Ocean View, Masiphumelele and Red Hill, Mountain View, Capricorn, although they assist animals and guardians throughout the Western Cape when their services are needed. http://tears.org.za/donate-now/ if you would like to donate to this worthy cause.
